Excursion: Dec.12, 2018 to TSMC & TPS

The excursion is planned for visits to the TSMC Museum of Innovation, and the Taiwan Photon Source in the Hsinchu Science Park about one hour driving from Academis Sinica. Both sites are limited to 30 people in a tour of more than one hour. We arrange for vitits in two groups to these sites.



To accomodate people not going to the Hsinchu Science Park, we suggest another choice of hiking in the Manyueyuan forest recreation area with trails along a river to two waterfalls.

Choice of excursion routes for attendees are open for sign-up on the Workshop venue account.

In the late afternoon of the day, we will join at The One Nanyuan for a garden tour before the workshop dinner.



Local attactions and weekend tour

Museum of the Inst. of History and Philology in Academia Sinica

The IHP Museum has artifacts collected from archaeological field excavations carried out in China. The collection spans the breadth of Chinese history, from the Paleolithic Period to the later imperial dynasties of the Ming and Ch'ing, and modern times.

The open hours are Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays 9:30 to 16:30, free of charge.
Attendees of the workshop are welcomed joining the guided tours on
Wednesday Dec. 12, 9:30 and Saterday Dec. 15, 9:30.



Half day tour to Palace Museum, Friday Dec. 14.

After the workshop closure, you may join us for a trip to the Palace Museum. The Palace Museum is famous for its collection of imperial artifacts and artworks of China. The antiquities span over thousands of years with a variety of genres.

In the evening we stop at the Shilin night market to experience the crowed streets for snacks and food.

The trip requires a minimum 15 people attending. Confirmation and payment will be on the workshop front desk on Dec. 10. You are welcomed to sign-up for a fee of TWD 1300 per person (museum ticket included).


Half day tour to Jiufen, Friday Dec. 14.

A trip to Jiufen is scheduled on the afternoon of the workshop closure. Jiufen is a very beautiful and scenic village perched on a mountain side high above a beautiful stretch of Taiwan's east coast. Once a prosperous gold mining town now transformed into a popular old street.

Before going to the town, we visit the Gold Museum exhibiting the mining history of the town. To prevent traffic jam, the trip to Keelung night market is canceled.

You are welcomed to sign-up for a fee of TWD 1000 per person.

Taiwan Tour Bus:

If you will like to arrange for trips, we suggest for the the Taiwan Tour Bus program coached by the Tourism Bureau of Taiwan. Trips are scheduled daily to major scenic attractions.
